Chad is ONE! He is one, One, ONE! We are parents of a 1 year old. Whaaaaat?! How did this even happen? The day before Chad’s birthday was a tearful one for me because I felt so overwhelmed with happiness & sadness for Chad leaving babyhood and entering early childhood. He has grown and progressed in ways that I have been so proud to witness. Kurt and I are so proud to be his parents. Chad is perfect in every way and we are so blessed to have had him in our lives for a year now. I’m a little late in posting this, but here’s some fun things about Chad hitting his 1 year/12 month mark.
At 12 months, Chad:
>> Has 2 more teeth coming in for a total of 8 teeth! Finally, when he smiles it will look even. (Teeth G & N are coming in)
>> Refuses to walk without holding on to something
>> Is a very fast crawler
>> Enjoys mimicking others- clapping, smiling, etc.
>> Likes to sort things into piles
>> Loves playing with his cousins, even though he is a bit too small to do so
>> Likes watching other babies do things
>> Eats whatever we eat
>> Doesn’t say words, but is very expressive with his face and hands
>> Gets into EVERYTHING, especially kitchen cabinets
>> Drinks whole milk instead of formula
>> Wears 18 month clothes
>> Learned how to drink from a sippy cup and a straw
>> Traveled to Portland, Oregon to visit Aunt Christine & Uncle Payton
>> Helped me celebrate my first Mother’s Day
>> Wears Size 4 diapers
- Height: 31″ long (85%)
- Weight: 23 lbs. (74%)
- Head Size: 74%
We have a tall, thin baby! Chad is losing all of his squishiness and is leaning out. We think he will only lean out more once he starts walking. He’s losing his belly and the roundness in is face so he’s looking less and less like “Baby Chad” and more like “Little Boy Chad”. Chad has gained less than 2 lbs. within the past 3 months, which is less than any other 3 month interval between his wellness checks. But he is above average for his weight for how tall he is. Overall, we are happy that he is healthy and growing! It’s exciting to see him grow but it makes me sad that the time has gone by so quickly. There is so much change that everyone in the family goes through during the first year of a baby’s life.
Chad’s Favorite Things
Fruit • Winnie the Pooh • Showers • Climbing on top of things • Crawling inside the kitchen cabinets • Clapping • FaceTime • Being rocked to sleep • Playing in water • Playing “chase” and running away • Reading books • Feeding himself • Chocolate Cake • Pizza
Chad’s Least Favorite Things
Drinking from a sippy cup • Diaper changes • Getting dressed • Being “forced” to try to walk without assistance • Cold things • Lemons • Being in confined spaces • Being overly tired • Having toys taken from him • Being put in his high chair • Being left alone • Getting buckled in his carseat • Getting woken up during nap time • Getting stuck behind a closed door (because he can close doors but can’t open them again) • Being hot
Chad is now 13 months, and has already experienced so many new things since his first birthday. He now can stand up by himself, has taken his first steps, has learned to stack things, mimics people even more, loves the pool, loves his aunts & grandmas, is getting better at feeding himself, has gotten better (but still doesn’t like) at drinking from a sippy cup, enjoys all different types of food, and doesn’t bite! He’s been such a joy and we are so blessed to have such a happy, loving, energetic son.
I won’t be doing monthly updates on Chad anymore, just ones every 3 months after his wellness checks. Our blog will go back to being a family blog instead of an All About Chad blog haha.
P.S. I will eventually get to posting our Virginia trip video, details from our 2 Oregon trips, my new business as a Shop Stevie Brand Rep, and much more. Stay tuned!
