Mommy Style Monday: Valentine’s Day

THIS IS MY 100th blog post! Man…I’ve been gone from the blog for a while…BUT I’ve committed to posting more regularly and having a little more fun with it, so here’s to a new year, new content, achieving goals, and “journaling” more!

This Valentine’s Day is a little bittersweet this year because it’ll be so hard to beat last year’s Valentine’s Day!  I had my 14 week appointment and announced that we were pregnant with Luke and it was SUCH a special day for our family.  You can look back at my blog post from last year, here. I’m anticipating seeing a few pregnancy or engagement posts on social media this year…because who doesn’t love holiday themed announcements?! Even though I loved last year, I get to spend my day with my 3 boys, and not just 2 of them, so that automatically makes it amazing.

We started a tradition last year that we would go to breakfast instead of out to dinner for Valentine’s Day! (1) Restaurants are way less crowded in the morning on a weekday (which means we feel more comfortable bringing the entire family, and if our kids are crazy, we are bothering less people) and (2) It’s more casual (which we both love).  This year we will probably be going to Kneaders because I’m obsessed with their french toast and their breakfast sandwiches, so I’ll probably force Kurt to get one and I’ll get the other because nothing says true love like letting your significant other eat off your plate! Since we will be going out to breakfast, the plan is to stay home for dinner.  I haven’t decided what I’m making yet, but I’m sure it will consist of Martinelli’s in wine glasses, a killer charcuterie board, and a tasty dessert.

*What’s a charcuterie board? Basically, it’s a meat & cheese board. You can add fruit, nuts, condiments, breads & crackers.  I can’t tell you how often we have a Costco cheese tray, salami, and crackers for dinner! To get some ideas of what they look like, click here!

Also, I LOVE getting ready on Valentine’s Day.  I don’t know what it is, but getting dressed & ready on holidays is always way more fun.  I’ll probably be wearing something from my shop!  Do you usually wear red, white, or pink on Valentine’s Day, or any color? I’m looking forward to a casual but special outing with my family. Here are a few outfits I’ve worn over the past few days that I’m considering 🙂

Life & Love Update

I have had a rough 5 months.  My body, mind, and soul have really suffered and it’s been difficult to love myself, love others, and accept love from those around me. I really do believe that I hit rock bottom. Although Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be the only day focused on Love, I feel like it’s a day for me to really reset and embrace my love of life, my love for my family, and my love for myself.  I’m looking forward to that quality time with my 3 boys, because when I think of love, I think how much they’ve been there for me. I honestly don’t know what I would do without them; they are my life and my world.  Everything I do, I do for them and I am so grateful to be a wife to Kurt and a mother to Chad & Luke.  I’m the most spoiled girl in the world to be surrounded by boys who love me the way they do!

What are you doing for Valentine’s Day? Do you prefer dressing up or keeping in casual?  Do you go out on actual Valentine’s Day, or celebrate on another day? I’d love to hear more traditions!

    • Thank you!
We are big breakfast people too! So everyone is happy with our tradition, and it seriously is soooo much less stressful on families. We love celebrating all together, so it’s nice to be able to do something that kids can join in.
